Chief's Message
To the Community Members, Local Entities, and Organizations
I would like to take a moment to address the community in an open letter as we were not able to meet at our general assembly. It is unfortunate that we had to postpone the general assembly once again, but we did so in respect of the passing our community member late John C. Gull and his family.
This October marked the completion of my first year in my term as Chief. I have been working hard to meet various mining companies and review the projects that benefit our community and affected tallyman. Negotiations caused me to travel a lot this pass year, and I would like the community to have access to my schedule. I am distributing a copy of my schedule for December as information for the community, and will continue to do so every month.
I am very proud that our community developed a partnership with Geo-Mega and I am working hard to bring additional agreements such as this one to increase community contribution funding and employment for our people.
I would like to thank our Deputy Chief Marcel Happyjack, and the councilors who represented me and acted on my behalf in the community during the times I was away. Also I would like to thank Director Jonathan Sutherland, for always being present in the CFNW office and keeping the departments running smoothly, and helping our members.
This year the community has lost many people, and I am asking that each of you to take a moment to remember and pray for those families that are celebrating this season without the presence of a loved one.
I am myself will be celebrating this holiday season with my children and grandchildren without my late wife Stella. Our family is still mourning her loss and I appreciate all the prayers and support I received from each of you.
Happy Holidays and Season's greetings to each of you and your families. I look forward to see you at the General Assembly in January 2012.
Chief Paul Gull
